Google font API

The preferred method for embedding fonts is via the Google Font API. There are a number of ways to load fonts using the Google font API (linked stylesheet, @import and javascript), along with a great number of variants. Load the minimum number of variants in order to minimise the hit the end-user takes when viewing your pages.

Example code

Step one: load the stylesheet in your HTML document:

<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=PT+Sans' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>

Step two: reference the font in your CSS:

font-family: 'PT Sans', sans-serif;

CERN-hosted fonts

For non-public websites developers may wish to reference local fonts for security reasons. You can call the fonts from CERN in this way:

<link href='https://framework.web.cern.ch/framework/2.0/fonts/PTSansWeb/PTSansWeb.css' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>

Variants

<link href='https://framework.web.cern.ch/framework/2.0/fonts/PTMonoWeb/PTMonoWeb.css' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
<link href='https://framework.web.cern.ch/framework/2.0/fonts/PTSerifWeb/PTSerifWeb.css' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>

Git

git clone https://gitlab.cern.ch/web-team-ux-assets/framework2.git

After cloning the above repository use the path /fonts under framework2.
